The Local Authority Urban Design Forum (LAUDF) is a network for local authority practitioners involved in urban design to share ideas on current issues, to learn from each other’s experience and to build up resources for mutual benefit.
This newsletter covers the 12th LAUDF meeting. The theme of Approaches to Placemaking, Design Review and Assessment was chosen by the steering group. An agenda was then developed by the chairs Matthew Spurway from West Dunbartonshire Council and Francis Newton from Edinburgh City Council, with input from the steering group and Architecture and Design Scotland.
Presentations and learning exchange sessions were curated to enable sharing of knowledge around issues including design advice, design governance, mechanisms to measure and celebrate design quality, rural development frameworks and local panels. The forum was attended by over 48 professionals representing 22 different local authorities and public bodies.
