The Alliance for Sustainable Building Products (ASBP) Event:
Future Footprints: Building Products in a Resource Efficient World.
14:00, Wednesday 5th December, BPP Business School, 2 St Mary Axe, London, EC3A 8BF – next door to the Gherkin.
The construction sector is the most significant consumer of the world’s natural resources. Pressures of cost, availability and environmental impact of these resources is intensifying, and we will need to get ‘more from less’ if we are going to meet future construction needs. As a consequence, the ASBP believes that industry will need to move away from commoditised generic materials to a value added model, which encourages and rewards innovation and intelligent design for both resource efficiency as well as building performance. A recent ASBP report has suggested that increased use of bio-based materials in all UK buildings could be a sensible carbon-capture strategy. However, given that buildings are composites of many materials, what are the realistic options for a sustainable future?
Please join us for our usual fast paced and highly topical seminar and debate, with plenty of time for audience discussion, followed by drinks, nibbles and mince pies, till late. Many thanks to BPP for providing the venue and thanks to AECOM for their support.
