How do you make a better brief? Say what you mean, and mean what you say!
This report summarises the outcome of a workshop that A+DS and SNH co-facilitated, for Dumfries & Galloway Chapter of RTPI Scotland as part of their joint ‘sustainable placemaking programme’.
The workshop examined how ‘intent’ is both communicated and acted upon by the receiver as part of the briefing process. Participants from a variety of backgrounds considered how a brief to inform a masterplanning exercise might be prepared and subsequently interpreted across three scales of site.
10 key learning points are identified, and a summary suggestion for how this might be re-run on a DIY basis is also provided.
