The Happenstance: translations of Taiwanese articles
The translations of three articles about The Happenstance by Taiwanese journalist Sharon Ma.
The Happenstance was Scotland’s critically acclaimed contribution to the ‘free space’ theme at the International Architecture Exhibition in 2018, delivered through Scotland + Venice. It took place in Venice’s garden of Palazzo Zenobio and curated by Glasgow-based artist studio WAVEparticle.
The team from the Taiwanese pavilion at the exhibition visited a few days before The Happenstance opened. Their response was delight: they really got it; so much so that they asked to show their beautiful Tian Zhong documentary on 26 May 2018. Two days later, they brought their entire entourage to this event.
Afterwards Taiwanese journalist Sharon Ma wrote three loving articles. She said: “The Scottish pavilion is very rare in this Biennale. Go to the ‘free space’ pavilion.” You can read the translation of her pieces in this resource.
