New temporary Edinburgh venue to explore architecture, design and the built environment
A new temporary venue dedicated to exploring architecture, design and the built environment will open to the public on 15 September at the Edinburgh Futures Institute in the heart of Edinburgh.
A&DS:SpACE is a collaborative initiative by Architecture and Design Scotland (A&DS) and Space for Architecture, Carbon & Environment (SpACE). The venue will provide a platform for exhibitions, events and discussions that encourage people to engage with the places, buildings and environments that shape everyday life.
Over the coming months, A&DS:SpACE will host a diverse programme covering contemporary issues in architecture, design and sustainability. The programme will bring together architects, designers, researchers, students and members of the public to explore the challenges and opportunities facing Scotland's built environment.
The initial programme includes:
- An interactive exhibition exploring housing and places by Imagine.If
- An exhibition of the winning projects from the A&DS and RIAS Scottish Student Awards for Architecture
- A climate clinic and screening of the National Emergency Briefing film to mark Scotland's Climate Week
- An exhibition showcasing winning projects from the RIAS Awards
- Mass Timber Revolution, examining the growing role of timber construction in delivering sustainable buildings
- Events and discussions on AI in Design Practice
The space aims to foster collaboration and public conversation around the future of Scotland's towns, cities and communities, highlighting innovation, sustainability and design excellence.

Located within the Edinburgh Futures Institute, A&DS:SpACE will serve as a hub for exhibitions, talks, workshops and events that connect people with the ideas, projects and innovations shaping the built environment.
The venue opens on 15 September in the east wing of the Edinburgh Futures Institute facing Middle Meadow Walk. Admission to exhibitions will be free unless otherwise stated.
