RIAS Seminar: Using Architecture’s Policy to Generate Public Value

Join RIAS and Architecture and Design Scotland for a seminar exploring new research into the role of architecture within public policy across different European contexts. Comparing Scotland with Bilbao and Vienna, the discussion will examine how governance structures, funding mechanisms and policy instruments shape the way architecture is deployed to deliver public value.

The research suggests that architecture's influence is determined not only by design ambition, but also by the institutional arrangements and financial frameworks that support it. 

Presented by Master's student Aseel Almahfoodh, the event will share insights from comparative research and consider what these findings mean for Scotland. Aseel will be joined by regeneration practitioners and representatives from Architecture and Design Scotland to discuss the opportunities and challenges facing architecture's role in shaping places and communities today, followed by questions from the audience.
