Delivering place-based approaches in Scotland
Scotland’s climate is changing and to adapt to these changes we all need to work together. Across Scotland, initiatives are moving beyond cities to consider what can be done in Scotland’s towns and villages.
This event will tell the story of three projects which have been exploring place-based collaborative approaches to climate action in Scotland, covering over 20 places from Alness in the north to Annan in the south.
This event will share learning from the projects, explain varying approaches and consider climate action enablers in the Scottish context. The projects participating are:
Climate Action Towns: Architecture and Design Scotland is supporting place-based climate action in a network of small Scottish towns. Laura Hainey will speak about the work.
Community Climate Action Plans: Keep Scotland Beautiful is providing facilitation and support to enable communities to develop their own Community Climate Action Plan. Heather Ashworth will speak about the project.
Shaping Places for Wellbeing: The Improvement Service, in partnership with Public Health Scotland, is working to improve Scotland’s wellbeing by reducing the significant inequality in the health of its people while addressing the health of our planet. Theresa Glasgow will deliver the presentation.
Catriona Laing from the Scottish Government will help set the scene.
