Streetworks: the role of streets

Students of the Academy visited the institutes of Architecture, Urbanism and Landscape Architecture in six European cities – Brussels, Porto, Zagreb, Edinburgh, Helsinki and Amsterdam. Together with the students of these institutes they designed an intervention of the city’s main street. Leith Walk formed the study area for Edinburgh,. A&DS provided some background briefing to the issues of urbanism in Scotland, and fed into the final presentation of outcomes.

The initial phase of the project commenced with lectures on the history and role of the street led by Professor Hartzema and others. These streetworks lectures are now available online, here.
