Can Self-Build be an affordable, alternative route to housing in Scotland?

At the SFHA’s conference, Tom Dyckhoff painted an inspiring picture of future housing provision in Scotland, through self build, 3D printed, self fabricated, co-opoerative housing. Scottish Federation of Housing Associations in collaboration with the Sust. Programme at Architecture and Design Scotland and John Gilbert Architects, invite you to a series of events to explore this new model of housing provision, with ideas from Scotland and Europe.

Our first event is a visit to the MAKlab in the Lighthouse, Scotland’s first publicly accessible digital fabrication lab. We will tour the facilities, see the 3D printer and CNC machines in action together with hearing about their current range of initiaitives. You will be able to discuss ideas for projects with the team and other delegates.

This event is the first in a series of joint events which includes seminars and a visit to the Netherlands.

Time: 11am on Tuesday 30th July
Location: MAKLab, Level 1, The Lighthouse, 11 Mitchell Lane, Glasgow, G1 3NU
