Response to the Scottish Government’s Consultation on a Policy on Architecture and Placemaking for Scotland 2012
Architecture and Design Scotland is the national champion for architecture, design and placemaking. Our role is to promote the highest standards of design in the built environment in line with Scottish Ministers’ ambitions as articulated through the National Performance Framework and set out in government policy.
The decision by Scottish Ministers to consult on a new policy for architecture is both welcome and timely given the changes that have taken place to a range of contexts since the previous policy was published, most notably related to the economy and the consequent realignment of public services.
In formulating our response we have worked with our staff,Board Members and Design Forum Panellists to develop our thinking on the key issues. In addition, we have engaged widely across Scotland and beyond. We have spoken with a range of partner organisations, client bodies, and individuals and listened to their views on the principal issues of concern to them.
