Speaking in Glasgow, shortly after it was announced that the city would play host to the 2014 games, Mr Tombs said that:

This is tremendous news for Glasgow and for Scotland. This presents Glasgow with a wonderful opportunity to contribute to its built environment in a manner that will not only deliver a fantastic event but will also provide regeneration opportunities for the City’s communities. At A&DS we will be working with other stakeholders to ensure that quality design solutions provide the City with a built legacy they can be proud of.

The bid team is to be congratulated as their tireless two years of preparation work has paid off. The work to secure a quality built environment for the games and for the city has only just begun. At A&DS we look forward to playing our part now that Glasgow has crossed the finishing line.
