Architecture and Design Scotland is a key partner in Retrofit Scotland, a collaboration of organisations established to disseminate best practice in refurbishment within Scotland.
In order to improve the performance and condition of our built environment and to inform a Scotland-wide programme of refurbishment, detailed technical information and case studies are required. Scotland has set challenging targets in relation to carbon emission reduction and tackling fuel poverty. Retrofit Scotland will provide a valuable information source for local authorities, housing associations and professionals involved in refurbishment projects.
Retrofit Scotland is a collaboration of organisations which has emerged from the 2020 Built Environment Subgroup to provide information on refurbishment projects, best practice, modelling and assessment tools, and finance mechanisms.
The Retrofit Scotland website brings together a wealth of information on refurbishment projects to assist professionals and the general public to identify the most appropriate solutions to improve the performance of existing buildings. This includes:
Together with industry and academic partners, Retrofit Scotland has collated Case Studies of buildings retrofitted within the last 20 years. The aim is to identify the most successful projects but also to highlight those which have been less effective and to use the lessons learned from all completed projects in order to inform the most appropriate way forward.
Retrofit Scotland has used contacts throughout industry and the academic community to identify and assess various simulation and modelling tools which can be used to define retrofit interventions.
