At the Building Better Health awards in London, NHSGlasgow’s new Stobhill ward block won the Best Acute Care Design Award.
Further afield, at the World Architecture Fair, two projects described clear, strong images linking health and landscape:
Best completed project went to rehabilitation centre Groot Klimmendaal, Arnhem, Netherlands and the best Future Healthcare Building was awarded to the Binh Children’s Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
Small-scaled flower-shaped buildings cover the sculptural landscape, partly defining the project’s image. These organic shapes house the inpatient wards, totalling 1.000 beds. The landscape passes underneath the elliptical buildings, and forms gardens and patios with green and water features. The wards are lifted to the level with the most beautiful view.
