Architecture and Design Scotland (A&DS) has been working with a number of partners and facilitators, including East Renfrewshire Council, the Glasgow Urban Laboratory, Mackintosh School of Architecture, GSA, The Development Trust Association Scotland, Urban Design Skills, the Lighthouse and SUST on the inception of the Scottish Renaissance Towns Initiative in Neilston.

On Thursday 25th June East Renfrewshire Council played host to a conference of the place-makers, policy-maker and community representatives which discussed the Scottish Renaissance Towns initiative in general and the process in Neilston in particular.

The new ‘Town Charter’ for Neilston was launched at the conference, by the Neilston Town Team, and presented to a representative of East Renfrewshire Council.

The new website for the Scottish Renaissance Towns Initiative was also launched at the conference and can be found at http://www.scottishrenaissancetowns.com/ . The website hosts a number of downloadable resources on the Renaissance Towns project to support research and discussion.

The conference was chaired by the depute chair of A&DS Brian Evans. His opening remarks can be found in the clip below.
