Our role is to promote the design of buildings and places that meet the needs of everyone in Scotland – this is how we approach this task.
Our belief in the power of design to improve people’s lives comes from seeing first-hand how design methods help resolve multiple, sometimes conflicting, issues. Good design makes best use of resources and understands the link between the physical environment and the experience of people using it.
The years ahead will require solutions to many complex challenges: reducing carbon emissions, providing suitable homes, growing green infrastructure and biodiversity, stimulating the economy, addressing social inequality and isolation. Places provide the setting for all these endeavours. We believe that by sharing a common vision for a whole place, and using that as the lens for decision-making, can deliver the solutions Scotland needs.
Therefore, we will:
- connect people and organisations to create thriving places
- champion good design and collaboration
- provide advice on projects, bringing a wide range of skills
- share insight from our work to grow capacity across Scotland.
