Forestry Commission Scotland and NHS Health Facilities Scotland are running a design competition for a ‘Garden Room’ at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee. The design competition was formally launched on Monday 27th April 2015, and the deadline for Stage 1 entries is the 26th of May.
A limited, two stage, collaborative design competition for architectural and multi-disciplinary practices working in Scotland. A collaborative approach is encouraged for those reaching Stage 2 to design and build a ‘garden room’ overlooking the Ninewells Community Garden within the Arboretum of Ninewells Hospital, Dundee for use by garden volunteers, visitors, patients, staff and local community groups.
There is a maximum budget of £50,000 to deliver the winning design including a modest design fee. Forestry Commission Scotland and BSW Timber Group will provide technical advice on deliverable designs for submissions short listed for stage 2. Submissions need to include a budget breakdown including materials and build costs. Subject to funding being available, Architecture and Design Scotland will support a public display of competition entries in Ninewells Hospital in Dundee.
