Material of the Month: September 2015 – Dunhouse Blue Sandstone

Why it’s inspired us…

Quarried in Lancashire Dunhouse Blue is a very fine grained blue/grey sandstone with high strength and low porosity. It is a natural sandstone with 90% silica content.

It is excellent for paving and steps in exposed areas, the stone can carry a highly polished finish.

Why we’d like it to inspire you…

Did you know that Sandstone could be blue/ grey?

It was used for the spitters for the restoration of the Great Hall Stirling Castle as these stones are exposed to the weather and are designed carry rainwater without a lead flashing to protect them.
