Why it’s inspired us…

Traditionally birch was used to make May Poles for May Day.

The wavy or ‘masur’ markings on some birch boards give a very spectacular flamey birch sheen, sought after by cabinetmakers.

Birch bark is full of natural waxes which make it waterproof and naturally durable.

Why we’d like it to inspire you…

While we think of timber in terms of appearance and strength birch has great acoustic qualities and is often used to manufacture speaker boxes and musical instruments as Birch has a natural resonance that peaks in the high and low frequencies, evening the tone.

We have a variety of timbers on display, how do you think birch compares with regards to strength, appearance and durability?

Do you have any suggestions for another MATERIAL OF THE MONTH?

Or even another material? Please let us know!
Thanks!
