Material Considerations: A Natural Factory (2011) showcased the forest industries and in particular, the current and potential future use of Scottish timber – from tree to paper – specifically highlighting the use of timber as a building material. The exhibition comprises three sections: starting with the forest where trees grow and mature, following on to the production line where the raw timber is turned into products and building materials, and a final area displays case studies and full size samples from recent Scottish buildings that showcase the use of timber in their construction.

This is the first in a series of exhibitions investigating sustainable construction products, which will ultimately form the core of the Sust. Materials Library. The exhibition should appeal to young people, the public, students and professionals alike.

This exhibition is a collaboration between Sust. (Architecture and Design Scotland’s Sustainability in Architecture Programme) and the Forestry Commission Scotland.

The exhibition will ran from 17 September 2010 – 15 March 2011.
