Pupils from all five local schools in Lochgelly took part in a two day sustainability workshop in the lead up to the Charrette. The Scottish Government made available resources from SUST to raise awareness and encourage engagement with the younger audience.
The school workshop involved mind mapping a sustainable town and designing models representing different Eco friendly buildings and facilities. The project allowed pupils to choose between different design elements that will be ecologically sound, healthy and which suits their needs.
The workshops took place on Thursday, 4 and Friday, 5 March 2010. Almost 30 pupils from all five local schools took part. Their results were displayed in a presentation on Friday at Lochgelly West Primary School, and were then exhibited at the Opening Presentation of the Charrette on Monday, 8 March in the Town Hall.
