Junkitecture Workshop

Thursday 15th – Saturday 17th August

10am – 5pm

The Lighthouse, 11 Mitchell Lane, Glasgow G1 3NU

Ever fancied getting your hands dirty by making your own furniture? Or designing and building something even bigger?

Well now is your chance!

Come along and learn new skills, meet new people, test your creativity and leave with the knowhow to do it all yourself.

Junkitecture is an initiative set up to promote the value of perceived waste materials within the construction industry in order to challenge the attitudes of the current throw-away culture we live in. The programme is led by 5th year Architecture Masters students Joseph Grehan and Xanthe Davies from The University of Strathclyde.

A series of workshops will be held at MAKLab at The Lighthouse this August to promote these themes while also encouraging people to work together and learn from each other in a fun, constructive manner. Workshops will allow individuals to work alongside designers who aim to inspire them to look at materials and commodities in a different way, encourage them to see the opportunity and potential in everything around us and the value of well-crafted objects over mass-production.
