Derek Fabel, Senior Lecturer, School of Geographical and Earth Sciences, University of Glasgow
Derek is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Geographical and Earth Sciences, University of Glasgow, specializing in reconstructing the changes in extent and volume of ice sheets on Earth. His work provides data for computer models that are used to predict future sea level rise in response to global warming and accelerated melting of present day terrestrial ice.
He has around 20 years experience of working in polar environments and has spent three summer seasons in remote field camps with the Australian, US, and New Zealand Antarctic research programs. He is currently planning an expedition to Dronning Maud Land, East Antarctica.
