Graham Hogg, Lateral North, Glasgow
Graham is a founder of LATERAL NORTH in Glasgow, established along with Alex Hobday, Catriona Macdonald and Tom Smith, as a research and design collective that investigates scenarios for a future Scotland. Scotland is often viewed as a small part of the UK – a remote, homogeneous and infertile northern nation.
Viewed differently, Scotland is the most accessible, fertile southern part of the Arctic region. It forms part of ‘New Northern Frontiers’ for the European community and is the gateway to the Arctic for Europe. This talk will focus on Scotland’s identity, potential and strategic position within this future Arctic region and will pose scenarios, which will spark debate and discussion.
