The 5 shortlisted entries in the Glasgow Institute of Architects Springburn Winter Gardens Competition have been announced. The competition, titled “An intervention at Springburn Winter Gardens; to provide a place where people can gather and share memories” aims to raise awareness of the wider issues surrounding the loss of key community assets and cohesion in Springburn. The approach suggested by the Glasgow Institute of Architects is to make a series of incremental steps toward full renovation. The first step should be small, engage the local community and bring the structure back into the daily lives of the residents of Springburn and lovers of the park.
The shortlisted entries are as follows:
James Hand and Nik Klahre
Ruggero Lancia & Leonardo Pugin
The City of play
The schemes are on display at the offices of NG homes in Springburn where members of the public can vote on their preferred design. The winning entry will be announced by the GIA in November.
