“Remade Learning Places: Example 2” is the second example in a series supporting the “Remade Learning Places: Why refurbish?” guidance which Architecture and Design Scotland published earlier in 2015 to help local authorities improve their school estate by refurbishing existing buildings.

The second example shows how the Castlepark Primary School and Nursery in Irvine, a suburban primary school, was refurbished, remodelled and extended to accommodate the closure of a nearby primary school as part of the Schools Estate rationalization in North Ayrshire.

This supporting series of publications complements the Scottish Government’s £1.8 billion Scotland’s Schools for the Future programme and the Inspiring Learning Spaces Fund, all of which aims to ensure Scotland becomes a world leader in education.
