Sebastian Tombs, Chief Executive of Architecture + Design Scotland (A&DS), has welcomed today’s announcement from Transport Minister Stewart Stevenson MSP regarding the new Forth Bridge.
Speaking after the announcement Mr Tombs said:
Architecture and Design Scotland has had a number of constructive meetings with Transport Scotland and their design team to discuss plans for the new Forth Crossing.
We have been encouraged by the way in which the design has developed since we first saw it, and the aspirations of the project team to produce a bridge of world standing.
Confirmation that the existing road bridge will remain open, and the consequent reduction in the width of the new crossing, has led to the design option of a mono-tower approach being adopted, an option that we have consistently promoted.
We look forward to a continuing involvement on this important project for Scotland.
