A&DS and RIAS Scottish Student Awards for Architecture
04 July – 29 September 2013
Gallery 2, Level 2, The Lighthouse, Glasgow.

This years Architecture + Design Scotland Sust. Award for Sustainable Design winner was Peter Harford-Cross – University of Strathclyde Weather, Water and Place, Banks of the River Kelvin, Glasgow

This is design beyond the building. Small interventions are proposed to deliver substantial change. The proposal addresses issues of social disconnection, generating a more walkable city, enhancing the mobility of residents. This approach is about many strands of the sustainability agenda from the socioeconomic down to energy and the details of the built environment, all brought together with consummate care.

The awards – now in their 11th year – celebrate the talent of student architects and are awarded in a number of categories. Winning projects included an Arctic Council in Reykjavik, a Salt-park in Saltcoats, Hydrobath in Culzean Park, the regeneration of Olbia in Sardinia, Urban Housing in Glasgow and a reworking of the banks of the River Kelvin.

The awards are supported by A&DS, RIAS, RIAS Insurance Services and the Scottish Government.
