Making Space 2010 - Children and Young People's Award
Making Space 2010 is an international award and conference promoting innovation, creativity and sustainability in design for children and young people aged 0 to 18.
This video captures members of the Children's Parliament as they decide on a set of criteria from which to judge the Making Space competition entries. A number of activities were carried out with the children to allow them to consider various elements of design including how different spaces look and feel, and whether spaces created a positive environment for children.
The group then used their criteria to assess the entries, and select a Children and Young People's Award.
The School's Programme supported this video in order to capture some of the thoughts and ideas from young people about what they consider to be important in a school environment.
The criteria for selecting the award were split into the following six categories;
- How it makes you feel
- Technology and energy
- Play and learning
- Using the senses
- Fits with nature
- Design and using the place/building
