The Scottish Civic Trust 'My Place Awards' are currently inviting entries for 2012. The announcement of the 2012 Awards scheme was made at the Heritage + Development = ? conference on Thursday 27 October 2011, at The Lighthouse, Glasgow.
The My Place Awards scheme is unique in Scotland as it is a national celebration of good local design and conservation as nominated and evaluated by local people. It is not an industry award.
In 2012 a Scottish Civic Trust My Place Award will recognise a project
that has had a positive impact in a local neighbourhood and has
delivered positive benefits to that community. Also, a Scottish Civic
Trust My Place Civic Champion Award will be presented to a person who
has made an outstanding contribution to their local heritage.
Local civic trusts and groups affiliated to the Scottish Civic Trust,
and, for the first time, all Community Councils, can nominate projects
and people for the My Place Awards.
Nominations for the Scottish Civic Trust My Place Award 2012 should be
submitted online at www.myplaceawards.org.uk
Nominations for both categories will be published on the Scottish Civic Trust My Place Awards website and a judging panel of industry experts will assess all the entries and decide on winners for 2012. Winners will be presented at a special ceremony in March 2012.
Launching the 2012 awards at the Scottish Civic Trust annual conference
on 27 October, Ray Entwistle, Chairman of the Scottish Civic Trust said:
"The My Place Awards go from strength to strength. This is one of the
few national award schemes where buildings and people are nominated by
local communities and where recognition is given to the best example of
civic architecture. The Scottish Civic Trust welcomes nominations from
civic trusts and community councils across Scotland for this important
award."
The Scottish Civic Trust My Place Awards are supported by the Scottish
Government.
