Scottisharchitecture.com is an online architecture centre, that is part of Architecture and Design Scotland's ACCESS to Architecture Programme. The website is designed to engage, inform and illuminate on all aspects of Scottish architecture and the built environment, across as wide an audience range as possible - from students and young people taking part in related workshops to professionals looking for lively and up-to-date news and debate.
Scottisharchitecture.com offers an important portal to information relating to projects delivered by the ACCESS to Architecture programme. The website also provides:
- comprehensive and constantly updated news;
- diary details of forthcoming events around Scotland;
- regularly updated features on new buildings and places;
- an education resource aimed at learners across all ages;
- articles, interviews and blogs reflecting the latest thoughts and developments happening across Scotland and beyond.
Scottisharchitecture.com considers the virtual visitor every bit as important as our real exhibition visitors and event participants.

A shortlist of 13 buildings has been announced for this year’s RIAS Andrew Doolan Best Building in Scotland Award.
The Award, which is jointly funded by the Scottish Government and the family of the prize founder, the late Andrew Doolan, is, at £25,000, the largest cash architectural award in the UK.
The judging panel for this year's Award, which was chaired by Professor Andrew MacMillan, includes RIAS President Sholto Humphries and international architect David Mackay who is an Honorary Fellow of the RIAS. Professor MacMillan commented:
“The late and much missed Andrew Doolan knew what he was doing when he decided that Scotland should have the richest architectural prize in the UK. He laid down a challenge which Scottish architects have answered year on year with buildings which have a real sense of place and show just what good architecture delivers for Scotland.”
Sholto Humphries, President of the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland, explained:
“We got 35 submissions for this year’s Doolan prize, a record. Getting that down to our shortlist was a tough task.
Their geography covers the whole of Scotland and they range from a multi-million pound council office complex to the joyful transformation of a Glasgow motorway junction. I am looking forward to the challenge of selecting a winner from this diverse and brilliant bunch.”
An announcement of the jury’s decision will be made by Scotland’s Cabinet Secretary for Culture and External Affairs, Fiona Hyslop and Andrew Doolan’s mother, Mrs Margaret Doolan Hon FRIAS, at the Scottish Parliament on 17th November 2011.
