Making Space 2010

21 July 2010

Architecture and Design Scotland (A+DS) is one of the partners behind the ‘Making Space 2010’ award and conference that is being overseen by Children in Scotland.

Scotland’s role in promoting architectural innovation will be spotlighted by the project with the aim of promoting and supporting innovation, creativity and sustainability in design for children and young people from birth to 18, and to acknowledge the involvement of children and young people themselves in these processes.

Following the initial ‘Making Space’ programme, held in 2005, ‘Making Space 2010’ again sees Children in Scotland working in partnership with the Scottish Government, the OECD’s Centre for Effective Learning Environment (CELE), and A+DS. Scotland will play host to a two-day international conference and award, which will showcase Scotland as a centre for design innovation.

Submissions for the award are invited from across the world for the most successful building or space (indoor and outdoor), completed between January 2005 and December 2010. Full entries must be received by 8 August, to register visit www.childreninscotland.org.uk/makingspace .

Award winners will be announced at the conference dinner and exhibited at the conference on 7-8 October 2010 in Edinburgh. Supporting events will be held in Glasgow and East and West Lothian.
