Architecture + Design Scotland (A+DS) have today announced the appointment of board member Paul Stallan as their ‘Education Champion'. A+DS recognises that the design of education buildings and spaces has a massive impact on the learning experience of students of all ages.
The Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong Learning, Fiona Hyslop MSP, said of Mr Stallan's appointment that
"Well designed education facilities can be a real catalyst in transforming the learning experience both for pupils and for those in the community who also make use of school facilities. I welcome Architecture + Design Scotland's work to promote good design and also the pro-active step they have taken in appointing Paul Stallan as their Education Design Champion, to provide a vital focus in supporting the delivery of ever better educational buildings and spaces".
Speaking upon his appointment Mr Stallan said:
"The ways we teach and learn are evolving and our buildings need to be well-designed, robust and adaptable to reflect this. Well designed education buildings can make for more satisfied staff, students and communities. It is imperative that we ensure that Scotland creates quality environments for education. Environments that we would be proud for our pupils and students to learn in".
