A+DS Hails Glasgow Games Success

09 November 2007

Sebastian Tombs, Chief Executive of Architecture + Design Scotland (A+DS), has today attended Old Fruitmarket Gallery with other supporters of Glasgow's Commonwealth Games bid.

Speaking in Glasgow, shortly after it was announced that the city would play host to the 2014 games, Mr Tombs said that:

"This is tremendous news for Glasgow and for Scotland. This presents Glasgow with a wonderful opportunity to contribute to its built environment in a manner that will not only deliver a fantastic event but will also provide regeneration opportunities for the City's communities. At A+DS we will be working with other stakeholders to ensure that quality design solutions provide the City with a built legacy they can be proud of.

"The bid team is to be congratulated as their tireless two years of preparation work has paid off. The work to secure a quality built environment for the games and for the city has only just begun. At A+DS we look forward to playing our part now that Glasgow has crossed the finishing line."
