Material of the Month: February 2016 – Cove Red Sandstone

Why it’s inspired us…

The Cove Red Sandstone is deep red hard wearing sandstone, which stands out on mass walls, ashlar, cladding and flooring capable of providing up to 100 years of service with correct maintanance.
Why has it inspired us? This beautiful stone is quarried still to this day in Dumfries, and is in plentiful supply!

Why we’d like it to inspire you…

Cove Red Sandstone has a strong presence on the East Coast of America owing to large quantities of it being shipped there in the early 1900’s. One of its more famous uses is on the base of the Statue of Liberty, where is acts as a podium to this French fancy designed by Gustave Eiffel, designer of the famous Eiffel Tower where many a romance has blossomed. Perfect for February…
