The respite centre was built as a replacement for the City of Edinburgh Council 's existing centre in Currie.
The building, which houses 8 clients, is designed along different lines to traditional respite care. It is formed as a garden pavillion to the adjacent existing day centre. The building has a simple double height social space with ensuite bedrooms along the back of the building. The building works with a human scale, and emphasises natural light and views.
