Portfolio Building 2011

This was an excellent opportunity for the 19 participants, all hoping to apply to study architecture at university, to gain skills in portfolio preparation. The course was designed and delivered by architects and architectural educators to reflect the published requirements of all 5 Scottish architecture schools. Open to all applicants, including those who have not studied Higher Art, it enabled students to create a portfolio that reflects themselves, their style, vision and creativity and gave them the confidence they need for a successful interview.

Students:

• Completed a creative mini project portfolio
• Found out what interview panels look for in successful candidates
• Had fun practicing interview techniques
• Leart to compile a digital portfolio
• Leart to compile a paper based portfolio
• Practiced sketching, drawing and presentation skills

Previous Participant Feedback

“I am going to study architecture at Strathclyde University this fall confirmed with an unconditional offer. It was a digital portfolio interview process so the fact that we covered this on the course was a huge help!”

“I have accepted my place at Strathclyde University and begin on the 24th of September 2011. I definitely think that being given a place on the portfolio course helped me leaps and bounds and gave me a HUGE advantage when applying to university! The information and knowledge I gained from attending the classes was invaluable and definitely helped me with interview preparation and also portfolio preparation.”

“I'm sure the portfolio course during November helped me prepare for my digital folio and interviews, and ultimately improved my chances of receiving the offers which I did.”
