About Us
Architecture and Design Scotland (A+DS) is Scotland's national champion for good architecture, design and planning in the built environment.
Introduction
Architecture and Design Scotland (A+DS) is Scotland's champion for excellence in placemaking, architecture and planning. We are an Executive NDPB of the Scottish Government. A+DS aims to support the creation of places that work, which provide people with real choices and, are ultimately, places where people want to be.
We champion the highest standards in architecture and placemaking across all sectors, advocating a better understanding of the importance of quality design in both the public and private sectors.
How we do it
A+DS works through our established programmes to champion excellence and advocate the benefits of excellence in design. Our programmes are Urbanism, Design Review, Sust, Access to Architecture, Schools Design and Healthcare Design.
Our remit
The Scottish Government sets out the broad direction for the organisation every 2-3 years through the Management Statement/Financical Memorandum for "Architecture and Design Scotland". The current Management Statement can be found here.
